Dr. Voltner has been a practicing dentist in Alberta for over 20 years. After completing his Bachelor of Science degree in 1991, he received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Alberta in 1993 and began practicing as a general dentist in Grande Prairie later that year. Dr. Voltner has owned and operated his own dental practices previously, first in Grande Prairie from 1993-1999 and then in Millwoods from 1999-2010. After working part-time at a Sherwood Park dental clinic from 2010-2013 and then at a dental clinic in Fort Saskatchewan in 2014-2015, he recently decided to create VMA Family Dentistry with Dr. Rex Moore in Millwoods at the start of 2016.
“Rex and I share the same practice philosophy. We both really value patient education and patient involvement in treatment decisions”
Throughout his career, Dr. Voltner has also been an instructor at the University of Alberta’s Dental Clinic, where he and Dr. Moore first met in 1989. Dr. Voltner says that his favourite part of being a dentist is building relationships with his patients – talking to them, getting to know them, and then helping them solve their dental health problems by giving them the solutions that are right for their specific situation and goals. Dr. Voltner lives on an acreage East of Edmonton with his wife, Karen; their two children, Amelia and Alex; their dogs, Healey, Totem, Birch, and Wally; their cats Maxine, Footie, and Tang; and an assortment of horses, alpacas, chickens, barn cats and goats. When he’s not doing chores, Dr. Voltner likes to relax by playing the guitar or woodworking in his shop.
Dr. Moore has been putting smiles on his patients' faces for over 30 years. After graduating from the University of Alberta's Faculty of Dentistry, Dr. Moore opened his first clinic and has been in Millwoods since 1980.
Dr. Moore also taught at the University of Alberta's Dental Clinic for 32 years, where he had the opportunity to mentor hundreds of young dentists as they prepared to start their own careers. Throughout his career, Dr. Moore says that he's been incredibly impressed by the many advances in technology that allow dentists to do their work faster, safer, and more comfortably for their patients, and that his favourite part of his work is having the opportunity to meet new people and help them achieve excellent oral health.
Dr. Moore lives in Edmonton and enjoys curling, gardening, spending time with his family and grandchildren here in the city, and travelling to Vancouver to visit his daughter.
